I found CrossFit with a lucky stroke of fate back in the spring of 2013 as a gym named CrossFit TeddyGym opened up across the street from me while living in Seoul, South Korea. Walking past this new mysterious development every day, I finally mustered the courage to take a step inside and take a plunge. It quickly brought me everything I never knew I was missing, a sense of community, a purpose, a competitive atmosphere, and a healthy lifestyle. I played sports growing up, mostly identifying myself as a swimmer. I had a competitive nature that I never knew I was missing. I began my journey in a bootcamp class, as I had seen barbells as intimidating (although I admired them and the people who used them from afar). I was immediately amazed how quickly I built a community of new friends, even though we didn’t speak the same language. After a year of doing bootcamp classes, I convinced myself that it was time to touch a barbell. It was challenging being limited to only visual cues to learn how to use a barbell, but I quickly fell in love.
As a returned back to America, I again felt a longing for a new community. I quickly established more amazing friendships in numerous gyms across the twin cities where I was finally able to share my new passion in my own language, English! Since then I have competed in countless CrossFit Competitions such as Granite Games, GameDay Eau Claire, GameDay Minneapolis, and GameDay Championships. After about 3 years of CrossFit, I realized my passion for education and teaching transferred to helping others inside the gym too. I attended the Krych Olympic Lifting and Squat Seminar in the Winter of 2018 and I felt honored to become a CrossFit Level 1 Trainer in the Fall of 2018. Sharing my passion for fitness and helping others see how much they are capable of has really become a passion of mine. I look forward to meeting members in the gym and helping them to better themselves in their CrossFit journeys.
